Anti-Ragging Committee
The Anti-Ragging Committee was established as per UGC notification to prevent and prohibit ragging in higher education institutions. Ragging is a criminal offence strictly prohibited by both State and Central Government. Penalties include imprisonment up to three years with Rs. 10,000 fine or dismissal from college.
Objectives
- Prohibit, prevent and eliminate all forms of ragging including conduct causing teasing or rudeness toward freshers
- Monitor and oversee Anti-Ragging Squad performance and functions across campus
Functions of Anti-Ragging Committee
- Prevent teasing, rudeness, or rowdy conduct by any student toward another
- Monitor acts disrupting academic activities and campus peace
- Prevent physical/sexual abuse, financial extortion, and exploitation of students
- Prevent verbal abuse, emails, or posts causing psychological harm
- Conduct on-the-spot inquiries into ragging incidents
- Offer counselling and awareness services to students
- Make surprise raids on hostels and other vulnerable areas
- Maintain affidavits and behavioural records of students
